WRMA Staff Present Data at the 23rd Annual Children’s Mental Health Research and Policy Conference
WRMA staff presented four workshop papers and one poster, and chaired a symposium, at the 23rd Annual Children’s Mental Health Research and Policy Conference held by the University of South Florida March 7-10, 2010. These papers profiled data and activities from two WRMA contracts for the Substance Use and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). For one contract, WRMA conducts the national evaluation for Phase V of the Comprehensive Community Mental Health Services for Children and Their Families Program. This national evaluation collects data and provides support for communities receiving SAMHSA grants to implement a system of care program model for delivering coordinated mental health services for children with serious emotional disturbance and their families. The other project, a subcontract to ICF Macro, is the Cross-Site Evaluation of the National Child Traumatic Stress Initiative. The papers presented included:
- “How Do Medication Use, Prescribing Providers and Treatment Patterns Affect Clinical Outcomes among Children with Mental Health Challenges in System of Care Communities?” presented by Susan Drilea.
- “Generating a True Measurement of Cultural Competency in Systems of Care: Reconciling Individual and System Level Data” presented by Katrina Bledsoe and Steven Forssell.
- “Examination of Adverse Childhood Experiences in Two Populations of Children Receiving Mental Health Services” presented by Kurt Moore as part of the symposium, chaired by Carolyn Lichtenstein, titled “Examination of Adverse Childhood Experiences in Two Populations of Children Receiving Mental Health Services”.
- “2009 Honoring Excellence in Evaluation (HEE): Recognition of Communities-Recipients Share Their Work and Reflections” prepared by Kurt Moore and Rashelle Lee.
- “Youth at the Wheel: Youth-Driven Research on Youth and Caregiver Perceptions,” a poster prepared by Karen Davis-Brown in support of the Youth Advisors Driving Action, which is associated with WRMA’s national evaluation contract.
