California Council on Developmental Disabilities Child Management Information System

The Case Management Information System (CMIS) project was sponsored by seven of the California Developmental Disabilities Regional Centers, and was designed to assist them in carrying out their legislatively mandated responsibilities to provide individuals with developmental disabilities, and their families, central points to obtain or be referred to needed services. The CMIS is an automated information system that tracks and monitors the various activities of the Center's service delivery process, while providing the level of accountability seen as necessary by the state's monitoring agency, the Department of Developmental Services. It enhances the opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities to receive truly appropriate and effective attention by facilitating better case planning, resource development, and policy decision making. CMIS includes a series of core modules which were required by all the participating centers (i.e., client, resource, and program management and event tracking) and a half dozen specialized modules developed for one or more of the centers (i.e., high-risk infant services, at-risk parents, service availability matching, personnel, closed event history, and transportation). WRMA had total project responsibility for designing and implementing the CMIS. All seven Regional Centers utilized the system to meet operational needs.
